Carthew Trail - Above The Tree Line

This section of the trail in the talus slope was a tough go as it switchbacked up toward the pass. With only scree, small broken rock, for hundreds of yards in all directions judging size and distance was difficult. I could walk or I could look but doing both simultaneously led to vertigo. Time on this section was spent looking at my feet or the heels of the hiker ahead of me. From time to time little rock slides would cover portions of the trail as we waited for them to subside.
